Cambridgeshire County Council

Assistant Director: Property Services

Salary £96,925 - £108,925 plus relocation assistance

Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

We are creating a greener, fairer, and more caring Cambridgeshire - be a part of it.

Our Council vision is to create a greener, fairer, and more caring Cambridgeshire. That means we need inspiring, collaborative, compassionate and inclusive leaders to be part a part of our extended leadership team to help drive and direct that vision to become a reality. Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live with a diverse population, across two cities in Cambridge and the Isle of Ely, historic market towns including Huntingdon, St Neots and Wisbech as well as more rural communities.  It is this diversity and contrast that means we need to work harder to ensure more of our residents share in the benefits and opportunities that our economy creates.

Our Assistant Director: Property Services is responsible for teams working across strategic asset management, facilities management, and property safety and compliance. Providing leadership to a team of over 50 colleagues, you’ll be accountable for our 1,400 properties and 33,000 acres of rural estate and land, developing a high-performance and customer focussed approach.

As our most senior property advisor, we will look to you to lead our asset management strategy, develop our corporate landlord approach and provide clear advice about how to optimise the commercial and environmental returns from our estate and assets. You will be comfortable working strategically with partners internally across the Council, as well as with external stakeholders, to ensure our models for service delivery are innovative, modern and sustainable.

What we need from you

To be successful in this post, you will be a qualified property expert, with the experience of having led professional property teams to deliver successful outcomes across a diverse portfolio whether within a local authority setting, or similarly complex and large organisation.  You’ll need to combine this with the programme and project management skills to ensure the effective oversight and management of both our operational and commercial property portfolios.

You will be a highly effective collaborator and have the talent to gain the trust, confidence and support of a range of stakeholders, as well as our residents, partners, elected members, and leadership team to make a real difference for the communities of Cambridgeshire.

We are looking for a compassionate and inclusive leader whose values and behaviours align with ours, who wants the best for the people they lead and for our residents, equally.

We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and flexible working environment. We are proud to serve the diverse population of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we believe benefits our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
