Take Serena. She is an absolute force of nature at the heart of our Church Street regeneration. And she puts the residents first in everything. Serena’s vision is clear. Regeneration isn’t just about bricks and concrete. It’s about communities. It’s about the environment. It’s about the lives of people and how they feel about where they call home. Serena is their advocate, making sure residents’ voices aren’t just heard, but drive the changes we’re making. The future is safe in her hands.

The Role:

As a Client Surveyor you can make your own powerful contribution to the delivery of an ambitious capital programme. You’ll be integral to our mission: to ensure residents across Westminster have the very best. That means a supportive and safe environment, with access to high quality, affordable housing and the chance to build fantastic careers in world-leading industries.

You’ll be our day-to-day lead for technical issues relating to the planning of building refurbishment projects. We’ll look to you to manage projects through strategic definition, into preparation and brief (RIBA Stages 0-2). Managing a range of projects, targets and deadlines at any one time, you’ll make sure our delivery team and contractor partners are fully briefed on the expected scope and performance of design works. You’ll also play a key part in driving ongoing improvement by monitoring and reviewing lessons learnt from completed projects. Supporting our Client Surveying Manager in decision-making and monitoring of works, you’ll forge influential relationships with a wide range of people across the council - from our Housing team and resident advocates, to repairs and leaseholder officers.

Here, you’ll find a supportive and welcoming environment within a diverse team. We’ll support you at every step of the way in your day-to-day activities and career. Crucially, we’ll champion your long-term ambitions with a range of bold training and development opportunities.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

A member of RICS or CIOB, you’ll bring to the role a proven track record in a building surveying or project management environment, delivering high impact construction projects to time, cost and quality standards. Proven experience in the condition survey assessment of residential property would be a real advantage. You’ll certainly demonstrate the ability to ascertain improvement works and the liability of each element of work.

Crucially, you’ll also have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop close collaborative relationships with people at all levels. You have the acumen and confidence to challenge proposals and ensure they evidence value for money. Awareness of legislation including the Landlord and Tenant Act is important, too.

The Council and its partners are committed to achieving diverse shortlists for all vacancies at Band 4 or above to support our desire to increase the number of staff from underrepresented groups in our workforce. As part of this ambition, if you are from a Global Majority (GM) you can self-declare this to the hiring manager as part of our positive action commitments
