Senior Estates Surveyor (Reference: SES)

Salary range: £45,771.96 - £48,023.04 p.a.

Full time and part-time working options are available

The Borough of Broxbourne is in south east Hertfordshire, just north of London and the M25, with a population of 99,000. It is an attractive place to live and work and is just 25 minutes from Liverpool Street and Stratford International stations by train. There is also good access to airports and the rest of the UK.

The Council is seeking to employ a Senior Estates Surveyor to join its successful and expanding Property Services team, which manages a varied portfolio of property and related projects. The role will provide a comprehensive property service to the Council and will include property management, professional work (rent reviews, lease renewals and valuations including annual asset valuations), lettings, acquisitions, disposals and project work, including redevelopment and regeneration.

It is an exciting time to join the team as the service is expanding, with recent acquisitions totalling over £24 million. The current portfolio is valued in excess of £100 million and there are a number of forthcoming major development and regeneration projects, including the recently announced Brookfield Riverside £400million development.

The duties of the role also include assisting in the management of the Council’s innovative and award-winning housing company, Badger BC Investments.

The successful post holder will be a qualified Chartered Surveyor, in order to provide supervision to junior professional and administrative staff. The successful candidate should ideally have experience of working for a Local Authority property section although this is not essential. A calm approach in a busy environment is required, as are intermediate ICT and Microsoft Office skills. Communication is key in this role (both written and verbal) so it is essential that the successful applicants will be able to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluently spoken English.

We have adopted the core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Effectiveness and Respect (TIER).

The values and their underlying behaviours, demonstrate our commitment to providing excellent customer care, working in a joined up way, showing respect at all times and looking at innovation and forward thinking solutions. We pride ourselves on recruiting, developing and retaining talent who share this commitment.

We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Council’s benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
