Local Authority GP surveyor for a 6 Month FTC
Hays are pleased to be working with a local authority to recruit a Building Surveyor for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract.
Your new company
Based within a local authority in North Derbyshire, the Facilities and Maintenance Team are looking for an interim surveyor to assist with their workload. The team has a a varied range of experience within it and as such are looking for someone who will slot in and hit the ground running.
Your new role
As a Building Surveyor within the Property and Technical Services team, you will assist with effective and efficient delivery of an excellent facilities and maintenance service. You will have direct responsibility for repairs and maintenance of a property portfolio.
You will be undertaking assessment, implementation and supervision of the non-residential portfolio, responding to requests for repair work, diagnosing faults and proposing cost effective solutions. This will require liaising with experts consultants relating to new and existing building fabrics.
You will be expected to lead on the specification and tender documents in respect of maintenance and repair work to council property. Budget preparation work and monitoring of the expenditure of repairs and maintenance of the commercial buildings within the portfolio, particularly for responsive and planned maintenance. Responsibility for Health and Safety and Quality Control of existing projects as well new contracts, with an eye on contractors performance.
You will be required to undertake asset condition surveys and detailed condition surveys, producing dilapidation schedules. You will be leading on, implementing and monitoring planned maintenance programmes for their buildings and services including utilities providers, monitoring their progress and producing reports on such. You may be required to respond to emergency situations outside of "normal working hours".
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring a "can do attitude" and be willing to get stuck in from day 1. The local authority is needing someone with experience of commercial local authority buildings, their maintenance and how to improve them.
