Chartered Building Surveyor:

Due to continued growth, we currently have an opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join our established team in Oxford. This role has excellent prospects for a recently qualified or more experienced individual that has a strong ambition to progress and enjoys working collaboratively within a vibrant team.  As well as technical competence, we are looking for an individual with the ability to think laterally, who possesses exemplary communication skills, has strong commercial awareness, who will provide a first-class service to our clients. We'll value your insight and leadership, supporting your continued growth and development as a leader.

Your purpose:

  • This role is primarily required to service one of our most significant national accounts.  You will oversee the end-to-end delivery of capital and refurbishment projects, across a large property portfolio.
  • You will manage other consultants and other F+G surveyors, reporting directly to the client and will be required to deliver larger and more complex packages of work yourself – including design and spec, contract admin and PM.
  • The ideal candidate will therefore be equally comfortable acting as both a building surveyor and a project/programme manager.
  • This is a role with real growth opportunity – the ideal candidate would eventually take on a leadership role in further growing the account nationally and in the South East.  The role will therefore require extensive travel into London and the South East.
  • Though the bulk of your workload will be on a national account, you will also be required to support the team with ad-hoc core transactional surveying duties – experience with technical due diligence surveys, dilapidations, party walls etc. are highly desirable.
  • You should have a strong commercial awareness and an ability to develop new business opportunities, including the preparation and submission of bids when required.
  • Our growing Oxford team has a number of surveyors undertaking their RICS APC.  You will act as a mentor, supporting their growth and development alongside other experienced colleagues.

What can you bring:

  • A B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying or a similar RICS accredited degree.
  • Chartered status essential/highly desirable.
  • Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
  • Experience managing clients with a strong understanding of profitability, business development and sound commercial awareness.
  • Experience in mentoring, training and coaching team members.
  • Experience managing workloads and projects.
  • Sound knowledge drafting technical documents, including client requirements, asset reviews, feasibility studies, specifications and drawings.
  • Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and Statutory Compliance.
  • Specific technical skillsets to meet specialist professional building surveying services such as Dilapidations, Party Wall, Fire Risk, Access Audits and the like.

Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent communication skills and client facing experience.
  • Professional manner.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Builder of strong working relationships.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Good report and letter writing skills.
  • Innovative and proactive.
