A bit about the role...
We are currently recruiting for an Acquisition Manager to join our Land and Development Directorate to compliment our Central Acquisitions Team.
The Acquisition Manager will play a critical role in identifying land opportunities for purchase or partnering. You will be joining our perfectly formed, talented and experienced team who are committed to making positive change in how we deliver our ambitions.
Dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, resolving challenges informally wherever possible, taking an innovative and creative approach to land and partnering issues. We believe working in a collaborative way to foster good decision making and problem solving within their team.
This is a rare chance to shape the future of our Acquisitions and Partnering team in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional acquisitions team you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective development land is secured and you will have the opportunity to help create lasting legacies.
The role will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects. There are some exciting and ambitious projects to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst working with multi-functional teams to progress innovative placemaking projects.
A bit about you…
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our partners in acquiring land, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.
You'll possess a thorough knowledge of the end-to-end development process, including site identification, valuations, land transactions and de-risking of sites and be comfortable supporting the Senior Manager and Head of Acquisitions with complex land issues, aiming to resolve challenges in a commercial and expedient fashion. You will be proficient in negotiating great land deals for the public purse.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an Acquisitions and Partnering team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced land and development professional you’ll be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way and have the necessary project management skills and ability to support the management of multiple projects simultaneously.
Who are we?
We are the Government’s national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of housebuilding across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes.
We have the appetite, influence, expertise, and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds, and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over £27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we are building a different kind of public service - join us to help make this happen.
What we offer...
We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as competitive salary and 33 days annual leave, we are totally committed to flexible working. We’ll support you, wherever possible, so that you don’t miss out on what truly matters to you.
If you do ever need a little bit of extra help we have a great employee assistance programme, financial well-being support and access to loads of great discounts with leading high street names.
Our range of network groups are also there to support you to truly be yourself at work and play a key role in helping shape our future.
If you are a member of a professional body we’ll pay for your membership and once you get your top of the range digital kit you’ll be good to go in one of our great offices (or at home!)
Company
Homes England is the new national housing agency, recently launched to play a major role in fixing the housing market and enabling delivery of homes that our country needs.
Homes England brings together land, money, expertise, and planning & compulsory purchase powers, with a clear remit to facilitate delivery of sufficient new homes, where they are most needed, to deliver a sustained improvement in affordability. We work locally in individual communities to help meet local priorities.
We invest mostly in building new homes, but also in creating employment floor space and other community facilities, in cities, towns and villages across the country. The homes we fund include affordable homes for rent and sale, and homes for rent or sale at market prices. Our investment helps build around half of all new homes built in England each year. It also helps increase local growth by creating jobs and supporting businesses.
We own public land, which we sell to house builders and others. This is one of the ways in which we overcome barriers to development and help increase the speed with which house builders can build new homes.
Homes England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
Homes England was launched by the Secretary of State on 11 January 2018. Homes England is the trading name of Homes and Communities Agency. To find out more about what we do please visit: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/homes-England.
