Job Description/ The Challenge

The Role

The Senior Development Surveyor role is key to the delivery of disposal projects in DIO Estates. You will lead and coordinate a variety of different activities to realise the best outcomes from the sale of redundant MOD assets. This could be anything from an individual dwelling to a former Barracks site extending to hundreds of hectares. You will work with town planners, valuers, site closure experts and an extensive supply chain to de-risk the asset prior to marketing. You will also communicate with many different stakeholders, both internal and external, to sustain and enhance the reputation of DIO Estates as an expert professional advisor and responsible practitioner on behalf of the Secretary of State for Defence.  The breadth of work on offer is exceptional as are the opportunities to develop your career in property.

The Defence estate is one of the largest landholdings in the UK and covers an estimated 1.8% of the UK land mass (200,000+ ha). This is complemented by a significant UK Defence presence overseas.

Estates are the in-house real estate team within the DIO (part of the UK Ministry of Defence) supporting infrastructure needs across a high-profile Public Estate. We acquire, manage, safeguard, and dispose of Defence real estate. Our unique customer knowledge and insight of the Defence Estate enables our in-house team of property professionals to provide in-depth advice to our Military customers". 

The Team

Acquisitions and Disposals (A&D) is the in-house Estates team responsible for disposing of all surplus MOD land and property to realise capital receipts for re-investment in the retained MOD estate. The team manages an extensive pipeline of sites for disposal supporting major infrastructure programmes. The team also acquire land and property for MOD projects when required.
