The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our growing Property Development team.

The British Heart Foundation is committed to an ambitious programme to expand and refurbish the large retail portfolio across the UK, which consists of circa 700 shops and stores.

We're looking for a highly motivated Project Manager with a construction management background to join the existing team and deliver the Retail Division’s shop expansion and refurbishment programmes from conception to a high standard of completion. This will include undertaking measured surveys and preparing CAD plans detailing existing floor plan layouts and elevations.

You will also prepare and deliver regular progress reports to project boards and stakeholders.

Working arrangements

This is a home-based role with extensive travel throughout the UK which may require overnight stays away from home. You will also be expected to attend some meetings across the BHF offices (London, Northampton, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff or Leeds).

Excited by the role, but not sure you tick every box? You may need a little more help balancing your work and home life, so please feel free to explore the flexibility you may need with us at the application or interview stage.

About you

You’ll have extensive experience of managing construction projects including acquisition surveys, fit out design, drawings and detailed specs and sound technical knowledge of all legislation such as building regulations, planning, CDM, fire safety, health & safety and asbestos.

With excellent time management skills, you’ll have experience managing multiple projects and be able to work effectively at high volume and speed. You’ll have strong communication skills, able to build strong working relationships both across the BHF and externally. A highly effective team player, you’ll also be able to work with minimal supervision.

You’ll be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD LT.

About us

When it comes to retail, we are leaders in the sector. We have over 700 stores across the UK and ongoing expansion plans. We serve 60 million customers each year. We’ve regularly delivered annual profits of up to £30 million that fund pioneering research into heart and circulatory diseases. We couldn’t do it without our people who run a seamless operation, get a kick out of finding brilliant products, and deliver a first-rate customer service.

We value and respect every individual’s unique contribution, celebrate diversity, and make inclusion part of what we do every day.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, Igniting Change, along with our internal EDI group, Kaleidoscope, and a growing number of employee network groups (our Affinity Groups), help us create an environment where all our colleagues and volunteers can succeed.
