The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operations Manager to join our growing Property Development team.

As Senior Operations Manager you’ll be responsible for the full range of building surveying services relating to the development and maintenance of the leasehold retail estate ensuring these services are managed and delivered to a standard of excellence.

You will directly manage the building surveying team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and ensure that all safety and professional working standards and practices are adhered to.

Responsible for managing and maintaining the portfolio of projects, directorate plan and relevant performance reporting, you’ll ensure the team’s ambition to provide an excellent service to our retail colleagues.

This role will develop, implement and review development, refurbishment, maintenance and lease exit strategies, policies and practices. You will also have responsibility for setting and managing annual budgets.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and nearest British Heart Foundation (BHF) office (London, Claygate (Surrey), Northampton, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff or Leeds).

About you

With a professional building / construction management qualification (MRICS, MCIOB), you’ll have extensive experience of all key aspects of traditional building surveying disciplines.

You’ll have sound technical knowledge of all legislation relating to the fit out and occupation of leasehold retail premises including; Building Regulations, Planning, CDM, Fire Safety Order, Health & Safety and Asbestos and have previous experience of delivering / managing reactive repairs, cyclical repairs and planned maintenance programmes.

With excellent communication skills you’ll have the ability to build strong working relationships. Innovative, you’ll have the ability to influence and drive change. You’ll be a team player and with previous line management experience able to lead and motivate your team.
