Assistant Estates Surveyor

Salary: £29,706 per annum and a generous benefits package

Contract: Full time, Part Time, Term Time, Job Share, Permanent Vacancy.

Locations: Based in Leeds or Warrington.

As an Assistant Estates Surveyor, you will work alongside our Estates Surveyors and Senior Estates Surveyors providing a professional Estates service to our business. Whether you are still working towards your professional qualification or recently qualified as an Associate or chartered surveyor, we will support you while you move through your surveying career. This role readily supports part time and flexible working.

You will be involved in a wide variety of surveying work; this will keep your days varied and interesting, enabling you to gain a wide breadth of knowledge and experience. Your work will focus on managing a diverse land portfolio as well as helping to deliver our national flood risk programme, overseeing various operational projects. You may also provide assistance to the acquisition and compensation programme for major capital works.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

About you

To apply for this role you must hold one of the following qualifications/memberships:

• be able to enrol or be enrolled as a CAAV probationer

• hold a RICS accredited degree, with the commitment to enrol onto and complete your APC

• be enrolled onto your APC with the commitment to complete

• be qualified as a RICS Associate member (AssocRICS).

You will need some understanding of compensation and land acquisition, access and rights over land and estate management (including landlord and tenant). Ideally you will have some experience working in an operational environment delivering estates services.

A credible and enthusiastic communicator with good networking skills, you’ve no problem building strong relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders. You’re a motivated team player, able to think on your feet and prioritise your work effectively.

A full and valid driving licence is essential.

The Estates service extends to 125 people, offering professional support for Environment Agency land, property, compensation and valuation matters. We are core to the delivery of the Agency's £5.2 billion capital programme to better protect 336,000 homes. Our experienced teams specialise in negotiating access, dealing with compensation claims from land/property owners where they have suffered loss as a consequence of our work.
