Beach baker are delighted to be recruiting for a client-side organisation based in London, looking for a professional to head up the town planning department.

This role would be ideal for an Associate Director looking to step up into a Head of Planning position, or for an established Head of Planning looking for a new challenge.

This role has come about through a period of aggressive growth and has been triggered by plans to significantly expand their European footprint over the next 3 years. You'll be taking over from the current head of planning, who is going to be focusing on the upcoming expansion into other European territories.

Our client works in a very niche area of town planning, and with over 10 years in the industry, are helping to shape the future of the advertising market through the digitalisation of the Uk's out of home media assets, which has led them to become Europe's leading owner of outdoor media infrastructure.

Their clientele consists of individual property owners, professional landlords and public sector organisations, and as a company situated at the forefront of the digital revolution in this sector, is leading the way in innovative outdoor advertising with an emphatic focus on exception quality and high-performance technology.

You'll be working with some of the most high-profile clients in the UK, with all the resources and support needed for success, including fully developed in-house teams of surveyors, architects, developers and planners.

The Role:

You'll be managing and leading on all UK planning matters, and to assist with the growth of the business through the digitisation of existing assets and acquisitions of new assets.

Duties will include:

  • Managing the in-house planning & design team, alongside the external planning consultant teams
  • Planning unput into UK development strategy and management reporting.
  • Co-ordinate the instruction of applications and appeals.
  • Ensure application and appeal deadlines are met.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the planning due diligence process and input from the planning team for single site and portfolio acquisitions.
  • Oversee and manage enforcement cases.
  • Provide planning advice in support of the ancillary revenue strategy.
  • Manage and co-ordinate internal relationships with departments.
  • Monitor local plan reviews and co-ordinate representations where necessary.
  • Attend internal meetings to represent the planning department.
  • Attend local authority meetings, committee meetings and events where necessary.
  • Prepare and manage template cover letters and supporting information / research to assist the digitisation project.
  • Oversee use of NASA (Planning project management system) and the maintenance of adequate planning records.
  • Manage the relationship with external planning, highways and landscape consultants.
  • Co-ordinate the monitoring of digital advertisement applications across the UK.
  • Oversee CPD for internal team.

  • MRTPI
  • Track record in managing a team.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in roll out schemes
  • Project management experience
