Building Surveyor (Planned Maintenance)

Salary from £35,340 to £38,088 pa (pay award pending) depending on skills and experience. Plus lease car subsidy or cash alternative of £2,080 pa
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Building Surveyor to strengthen our existing maintenance team in providing refurbishment, improvements and repairs to the councils housing stock. We are a Registered Social Landlord and so good customer service for our tenants is important.
At Ashford, Building Surveyors cover a range of traditional construction roles such as Architect, Clerk of works, Quantity Surveyor and Project manager as they see projects through from start to finish.
Our Building surveyors manage building projects mainly concerned with the Decent Homes programme but also a wide variety of other projects including;
- Disabled adaptations,
- Structural repairs,
- Remedial works following accidental/malicious damage including processing insurance claims where appropriate.
- Major responsive repairs and conversions.
In order to be competent in this role you will have good understanding of construction and the techniques and practices to maintain properties. Ideally you will have significant relevant experience and or have post-qualification experience of producing and supervising refurbishment and improvement contracts on occupied residential properties. In addition to this we are looking for candidates that have;
- Good project management skills.
- Ability to deal with contractors, outside agencies, tenants and the public.
- Good people management skills and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, particularly with regard to CDM Regulations.
This role requires the use of scaffolding and accessing restricted spaces such as lofts from time to time.
