Broxtowe Borough Council is looking to recruit an Estates Officer to be part of the Estates Team. The primary focus of the team is managing the Council’s commercial property portfolio to achieve the best outcomes whilst delivering an efficient property service.

The Council has a diverse property portfolio that ranges from operational assets and community facilities to industrial units and high street retail premises, including a recently completed 8 screen cinema development. In addition, the Council is expanding its property portfolio following the successful acquisition of grants from the Towns Fund and levelling up initiatives.

As Estates Officer, your role will include a variety of duties focused around the day to day management of property assets. You will work in a team alongside Estates Officers, Maintenance Officers and Surveyors to assist with the delivery of a great property service. You will require the ability to work as part of a team and build good working relationships but also to manage your own caseload.

Managing an individual caseload of properties, you will deal with lease events including lease renewals, expiries, new lettings and rent reviews. Whilst also dealing with general queries and wider tasks within the team including asset valuations and requests for access to the estate from third parties. In all aspects of the role you will strive to achieve the best outcome in line with the asset management strategy for the portfolio.

You will also need to be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. An important skill as you will work closely with other departments, tenants, contractors and third parties to achieve results.

We’re looking for an individual who has proven experience of:

  • working in a commercial property or related setting.
  • working within a team and developing good working relationships.
  • managing their own caseload and working to changing timescales.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • AssocRICS or MRICS or be working towards an RICS qualification.
  • attention to detail and the ability to use their own initiative.
  • strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
