Beach Baker is delighted to be working in partnership with The University of Bristol to recruit a Senior Property Asset Manager to be based in Bristol.

The University

The Position

The Senior Property Asset Manager is a key role within the Campus Development team (Property, Planning, Capital Projects and Sustainability).

The main purpose of the Senior Property Asset Manager role is to ensure the management of the University’s property assets, providing guidance and leadership concerning the development of the University property portfolio in both strategic and day to day approach.

The post holder will function as a key property specialist for the organisation and act as an advisor to the Campus Development Leadership Group and wider University Senior Management Team.

Working collaboratively to ensure best practice in relation to the strategic management function for real estate in a large, multi-dimensioned and heritage rich institution.

This will mean involvement in day to day estates management and service charge services as well as the more exciting stuff such as supporting with acquisitions, projects and refurbishments to enhance the value of the assets.

This role is broad and will utilise many General Practice surveying skill sets with a particular focus on Property and Asset Management as well as Lease Consultancy and will include strategy around key lease events including lease renewals, rent reviews and break options.

 

Specific duties will include:

Developing, refining, and taking an active role in the delivery of the University’s property portfolio strategy.

To manage and negotiate leasehold and freehold acquisitions on behalf of the University drawing upon specialist consultancy advice where necessary.

To manage and negotiate on key lease events including lease renewals, rent reviews and break options, using specialist consultancy advice where appropriate.

Responsible for the development and management of financial plans and budgets, including the development of expenditure forecasts and property budgets.

Leading project groups from time to time as necessary in connection with the University’s activities.

Taking responsibility for the management of legal documentation related to the University’s property portfolio in partnership with the University’s Secretary’s Office.

To manage all property leases held and granted by the University, ensuring that the University and its tenants remain compliant with lease obligations and legal regulations.

The Candidate

We are looking for ideally a qualified General Practice Surveyor with a Real Estate degree and MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).

Candidates at Senior Surveyor and above with at least 2 years MRICS qualified experience will be strongly considered.
