Turner Property Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a thriving and busy SME who require an MEP Consultant to join them ASAP in their London office to head a new service line in-house. The role will need the candidate based in central London 3 days a week and in the near future there will be travel required throughout the UK!

 

The SME are a business of circa 40 Building Surveyors with a turnover of circa £8 million with offices in Manchester, London, Bristol and Birmingham. With this size of footprint in the market they are naturally exposed to a significant amount of M&E work. To date they have partnered with third party consultants which works well and would continue to work well but there is a bigger picturing emerging. What has become apparent is, whilst those third parties are excellent in servicing their requirements, able to validate and design, they often lack commerciality, client care and big picture management and co-ordination of jobs - because of this they are simply unable to unlock the opportunity that lies within and around the business.

 

The catalyst for exploring in house M&E has been the above coupled with one or their key clients, sharing with us their M&E capital expenditure for the next five years. The client has asked the SME to identify an M&E biased consultant capable of working closely with them, to manage and understand a significant portfolio of property and who can build a team to service both their requirements – in terms of a project value over the next 5 years the figure sits at £104,000,000!

 

The successful candidate will be dynamic, use to managing lots of different instructions, works well within a project team, enjoys getting to know and working alongside clients, has a contact book of third-party designers and validation companies they are used to working with and ideally a few key clients who they have become a go to person for M&E as a testament to their own abilities.

 

Remuneration wise the SME work a remuneration model where everyone is on the same salary based on titles, so a Director in London with a London weighting, alongside a 40% bonus paid quarterly (they guarantee £5,000 every quarter for the first year!). The owners are open and transparent plus very keen to explain fully how the remuneration model works in an informal chat as they know people have questions on this!
