Turner Property Recruitment are delighted to be partnering again with a thriving SME who are looking for a Graduate/APC Building Surveyor (home based) to join their team of 4, ideally they would be be based in Yorkshire or the Midlands.

 

Purpose of the role:

 

• Provide a professional advisory service, embracing all areas of Building Surveying and Project Management and taking into account of the wider SME service offer across the business.

 

• To support the compliance team when required and carry out Fire Safety surveying services offered by the SME. Key responsibilities:

 

• To assist and deliver the full range of Building Surveying and Project Management services carried out by the SME, including but not limited to:

o Feasibility reports

o Specifications / schedule of works

o Issuing tender documents

o Running competitive tenders

o Managing multiple projects at the same time

o Producing contract documents

o Review and approving interim payments

o Managing change control

o Produce risk register

o Attend progress meetings

o Condition Surveys

o Building defect analysis and remediation strategies

o Life Cycle / Planned Preventative Maintenance surveys

o Latent Defect surveys

 

• To support in the delivery of the full range of Fire Safety surveying services conducted by the SME, including but not limited to:

o Passive fire safety surveying – Conducting site-based inspections of passive fire protection measures including Fire doors, compartmentation, fire stopping and other fire protection elements within buildings

o Pre and post work inspections

o Provide reports - highlighting any remedial action required and define solutions to any issues identified

o Ensure the health and safety of colleagues, customers, and the public on all projects

o Good knowledge of technical standards, fire related guidance, British Standards, and fire safety legislation

o Work collaboratively across the business to ensure we have an integrated approach to service delivery, quality, and client focus o To assist on the operational use of software and provide recommendations to feed into IT strategic plans and reviews.

o Undertake regular communication with Client’s to co-ordinate programmes of inspections and remedial works.

 

Essential Experience:

• Experience with defect analysis / building pathology and advising on remediation strategies

• Strong specification writing skills

• Experience of assessing risk management throughout projects

• Experience in compiling specification documents using NBS software

• Good understanding of JCT Contracts

• Undertaking various types of building surveys i.e. Schedules of Condition / PPMs

• Experience in delivering the role of Contract Administrator

• An understanding of Project Management

• Knowledge of Approved Document B, British Standards and guidance relating to fire safety

• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations

• Clean driving license Skills

• Ability to extract relevant data and provide clear and concise reports for others.

• Must be able to communicate effectively, in a clear, articulate, and persuasive manner.

• Confidence Face to face client experience

• Good IT Skills

• Attention to detail

• Customer focus

 

Qualifications:

• Relevant Building Surveying or Construction qualification at degree level.
