Associate (Planning)

The Role

Associate within the Knight Frank Planning Team, working on the business development and on-going delivery of client projects in a fast moving, client focussed commercial environment.

The candidate will be a highly motivated and charted planner (MRTPI), with typically four to seven plus years post qualification (Chartership) experience. In their current role, the candidate will deliver a wide range of projects, and demonstrate the highest quality of client care. They should be developing specialist sector experience and have a profile and client following within the market.

The role will involve:

• Providing planning advice and consultancy services to colleagues and to a range of public and private sector clients.

• Working autonomously to manage a range of medium and larger scale planning projects to a high standard. This will involve day-to-day responsibility for planning applications, site promotions and planning appeals.

• Line Management and motivating more junior members of the Team to support in project delivery and to meet client deadlines.

• Contributing significantly to the profitability of the Knight Frank Planning Team.

• Demonstrating business generation through effective client management.

• Supporting wider business development activities to help achieve business targets and objectives.

• Carrying out business development activities including drafting proposals, tenders and regularly meeting with potential and existing clients.

• Identifying, undertaking and working on thought leadership initiatives.

• Delivering elements of the KF Planning Team’s business strategy.

• Demonstrating leadership in specialist sectors and/or specific technical aspects of Planning.

• Being a highly motivated, positive role model.

The candidate should:

• Have excellent technical knowledge and experience of Town & Country Planning regulations in both planning policy and development management.

• Be capable of setting out coherent planning strategies and fee proposals.

• Be able to manage internal and external project teams on behalf of clients.

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Be regarded highly by more junior colleagues, and able to Line Manage Graduate Planners, Planners and Senior Planners.

Candidates should demonstrate:

• A coherent business plan showing what value they will add to the KF Planning Team.

• Commercial awareness and the ability to work on own initiative.

• Consistently meeting (and exceeding) agreed fee income targets, and how they (can) contribute towards the profitability of the Knight Frank Planning Team.

• Excellent standards of verbal and written communication which has gained the confidence of senior colleagues and clients.

• The development and sustaining of meaningful client relationships resulting in business generation.

• The ability to secure repeat business through effective and efficient client management.

• The ability to win new instructions for the Knight Frank Planning Team, and wider business both independently and working with others to achieve this.

• Contributing to thought leadership and strategy implementation to enhance their personal profile and that of the Team.

• A level of professional conduct that is consistently evident through their contribution towards the Client Care programme where appropriate.

• That they have developed a profile within their chosen market(s).

• Excellent personal management skills with a well organised approach to their work and is seen as efficient both within the office and externally by clients.

• That they comply at all times with best practice and perform well in all audits.

• A consistent professional approach to others internally and externally.

• A good work ethic including high motivation and energy levels.

• Confidence and capability in decision making both internally and externally.

• Contributing actively to the team spirit of the office.

• Collaborative working.

• Positive interaction with support staff and works with them in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
