Job Title: Building Control Surveyor

Location: North  London / Hybrid

Contract: 6-months ongoing

Pay: Inside IR35 – Negotiable

A North London Local authority is currently seeking an Interim Building Control Surveyor.

Main Responsibilities

  • Management of Building Control North team, ensuring agreed team plans and performance targets are delivered and that a culture of ‘putting our residents first’ is maintained.
  • To work as a senior (professional) member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialist professionals in Building Control surveying, structural engineering, fire safety and building services.
  • Ensuring that all functions of the Building Control Service are effectively managed on the jobs/projects for which the Level 2 Building Control Surveyor has responsibility, either in total or for which he/she has responsibility for the time being.

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

 

  • Holding corporate membership of I.Struct E, RICS or CABE or similar
  • Knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and other relevant legislation with regard to Disability Issues.
  • Have experience of working with dangerous structures matters without supervision
  • Experience of working in close association with Planning Development Control and Planning Enforcement Teams
  • Detailed knowledge of ancillary legislation, particularly relating to dangerous structures and fire safety matters.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the imperative of maximising income and building partnerships with clients to ensure target income is achieved or exceeded.
  • Able to provide technical advice at pre-application stage without supervision.
  • Knowledge of the enforcement activity to secure successful prosecution and appropriate corrective action.

  • Demonstrating clear working towards established or emerging performance management systems; with objectives, targets and appraisals for any direct reports.
  • A degree or equivalent in building control / building construction / surveying; or in a related subject
