Job Description

AECOM are recruiting an enthusiastic Chartered Building Surveyor to join our expanding Leeds and Schools teams.  Whether it’s diversity of work, improving your commute, or independence to delivery your own projects, there are opportunities to develop and grow within AECOM.  The Building Surveying Team operate nationally, across 12 regional centers, with prospects for some international travel if desired.  

The Leeds team have an education and projects focus, extending to decarbonisation schemes, condition and asset survey, with support to the broader AECOM service delivery of transportation, water, environment, and new energy, and the wider UK Building Surveying and Education Teams in delivering national commissions.   

You will be a Chartered Building Surveyor or equally experienced surveyor, based in the Leeds office, we operate a ‘Freedom to Grow’ policy where staff have the option of working in the office or from home as they wish, together with the ability to flex their hours. It is expected that you would work at least one or two day per week from the office with the rest of the team.  You will be comfortable in project management, contract administration, and building survey, and able to effectively communicate well with colleagues and clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Contract administration
  • Design & specification of building and remedial works. 
  • Review and technical compliance checks of design proposals.
  • NEC Supervisor (formal training can be provided).
  • Surveys - Condition, Technical Due Diligence and Pre-Acquisition.
  • Leading and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Preparing and maintaining schedules, including dependencies, approvals and resources.
  • Identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities, maintaining project governance, and quality assurance. 
  • Quality management processes for project activities and outputs.
  • Provide leadership to junior members of staff, assisting with APC objectives, and sharing knowledge.  
  • Management of your own time.
  • Development of business opportunities with existing and new clients is welcomed.
  • Use of AutoCAD would be beneficial.
  • Use of Microsoft Office is beneficial, Word, Excel and Project.

Qualifications

  • BSc Hons Building Surveying or Architectural Technology or other similar construction subject.
  • A Chartered Member of the RICS, or CIOB, or CIAT and RIBA or similar qualification.
  • NEC Supervisor accreditation (desirable but not essential).
