Job Details

Your new company
Joining Oxford City Council's Corporate Property Team is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a city steeped in history and innovation. You'll be at the forefront of managing and developing the city's diverse property portfolio, from historical landmarks to modern infrastructure.

HAYS are delighted to be working in partnership with the council to present an exciting new permanent opportunity for a Senior Estates Surveyor.

Your new role
As an Estates Surveyor, you will be an integral part of a team managing a diverse property portfolio which includes 350 commercial properties and 400 other assets including a town hall, community centre, moorings, and parks. As part of this role, you'll lead on leasing transactions as well as other individual projects undertaking direct negotiations with tenants, drafting and agreeing heads of terms and also liaising and dealing with external leasing agents.
You will also:

  • Lead on the management of allocated properties within the council's commercial portfolio to support and maximise and grow the income currently projected to be £12.2m.
  • Provide professional advice to the council on matters relating to commercial property and your work area.
  • Build relationships with landowners and commercial property agents across the Oxford property market.
  • Liaise and build relationships with existing tenants and third-party advisors where required.

What you'll need to succeed
If you have a passion for property, an eye for detail and a drive and motivation to improve the environment, then this could be a fantastic next step for you - there is no requirement to have worked for a local authority previously or within the public sector before -in fact, you may have worked for a multi-disciplined practice in the past. You will need to hold a degree or equivalent qualification within a property related area, and ideally you will be a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a salary of up to £44,088 per annum (+ planned pay increases in April). It's not all about the money! - Oxford City Council are proud to boast a market leading benefits package and flexible working culture to meet with your personal circumstance and to allow you to live a healthy and balanced life, this includes professional membership fees paid, access to other training and development opportunity, enrolment onto the LGRP pension scheme, a flexible working scheme which means that the majority of your role can be undertaken from home.
