Job Title: Interim Commercial Disposals Manager

Location: South London / Hybrid

Contract: 6-months ongoing

Pay: Inside IR35 - Negotiable

A South London Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Interim Disposals Manager.



Main Responsibilities

  • This is a key new role within the Property Services team to lead on the disposal of corporate assets in line with the Council’s Annual Asset Disposal Plan and to help meet the financial requirements of Central Government and the Government’s Improvement Panel. It is a senior role in the Property Services and will report directly to the Interim Head of Property Services
  • The Commercial Disposals Manager will undertake all work in line with the Council’s internal Financial and Governance policies in a professional manner, comply with all statutory and professional guidelines, and ensure all disposals achieve best consideration for the Council, whether undertaken internally or outsourced
  • Assess all disposal sites fully and provide a detailed brief to any marketing agents or perspective purchasers/Tenants to ensure that best consideration can be achieved;
  • Work with current service occupiers to vacate any operational buildings, involving as necessary FM to secure and make safe the assets, facilitate moves, IT and equipment removal and IM to certify the property is clear of records to avoid any GDPR breaches;
  • Where appropriate seek formal and informal planning advice from the local planning authority in conjunction with the agents



The post holder should be able to work unsupervised and in a pressurised environment in order to meet many deadlines. The post holder should have excellent communication skills to be able to deal with both other property professionals and to be able to explain property issues to non professionals including Council members and members of the public The post holder should have appropriate interpersonal skills to manage a small professional team and management support team and to ensure that the team works well within the larger Assets and Facilities Management Division and the Council as a whole. The post holder should have the ability to work with standard IT programmes including email and to be able to quickly learn other specialist programmes including the Property database. The post holder should have ability to manage Budgets in conjunction with the Councils disposal programme The post holder should be an experienced property professional and should Have at least 5 years post qualification experience (MRICS - Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent. The post holder should be able to demonstrate that they have experience in all areas of property work including Disposals, Commercial Landlord and Tenant, Valuations, Rating, major planning issues, rent collection etc
