DWP has the largest commercial estate in government and our team is committed to being smaller, greener and better – helping people to work, grow and thrive. Our estate provides accommodation for colleagues who support millions of daily customer interactions in Jobcentres and Health Assessment centres, back of house offices delivering frontline services and hub sites housing expert functions such as Policy, Finance, Digital and HR.
The DWP Estates function ensures the smooth and efficient operation of this network on a day-to-day basis. We manage a private sector supply chain that delivers essential services such as security guarding, maintenance, property and leasehold, construction, cleaning and facilities management. Many of these services are business critical and we cannot safely open our offices without them.
Our ambitions are to:
- Transition to a smaller, more affordable, and adaptable estate
- Invest in improving DWP’s buildings and infrastructure, conducted mainly through an extensive programme of planned replacement works
- Meet our agreed Government Greening Commitments - creating a culture where sustainability is embedded
- Expertly deliver cost effective services
- Create a professional working culture that is best in class across the Government Property world
There is no better time to join us as we transform our estate and make our buildings fit for the future.
Your role will be responsible for setting priorities, agreeing targets, and monitoring performance of all activities related to the management of statutory, and mandatory tasks, associated with Water Hygiene (Domain). You will act as the DWP Estates subject matter expert, leading this domain and allocating responsibilities to the wider Asset Management team, supplier management chain, and other DWP Estates operational teams. You will be accountable for outcomes in the management of all aspects related to Water Hygiene. You will provide technical and compliance expertise to ensure the DWP Estate portfolio is managed and controlled, safe and compliant.
Company
The Department for Work and Pensions touches every citizen in the country at some time in their life. We are the UK Government’s largest public service provider, providing services and support to over 22 million people and managing Whitehall’s biggest annual budget, totaling over £176 billion. At the same time, we are delivering a once in a generation programme of welfare reform.
We provide a modern, fair and affordable welfare system that makes a sustainable and positive difference to people’s lives every day. Our role is to support people into work by extending their opportunity, strengthening their personal responsibility and enabling them to reach their potential – and this could be your role too.
We’re looking for talented individuals to help us fulfil this role during the biggest challenge of a generation.
At the forefront of the Covid response and economic recovery, DWP will remain 'front and centre' in the Government’s efforts to support people through the recovery and back into work. When Covid-19 struck, DWP immediately took a critical role in ensuring people received vital financial support. DWP has already put in place a programme of work to support economic recovery, ranging from influencing decisions on emergence from lockdown (eg changing social distancing measures) to re-designing a future Jobcentre Plus service, and future contracted employment provision to ensure well-targeted, and deliverable support is available.
We employ over 91,000 people in varied roles, from delivering services on the front line in communities across the country, to developing policy to tackle some of the biggest strategic questions of the age.
