Contract Type: 6-12 months

Key Responsibilities:

  • Property Management: Oversee the management of the council's property portfolio, including commercial, residential, and community assets.
  • Valuations and Appraisals: Conduct property valuations and appraisals for acquisitions, disposals, and lease renewals.
  • Lease Negotiations: Negotiate terms for new leases, lease renewals, rent reviews, and lease assignments.
  • Disposals and Acquisitions: Manage the process of property disposals and acquisitions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Property Inspections: Carry out regular property inspections and ensure all properties are maintained to a high standard.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development and implementation of the council's estate strategy, providing expert advice on property matters.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including tenants, contractors, and government agencies, to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Compliance: Ensure all property management activities comply with relevant legislation and council policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent professional body.
  • Experience: Proven experience in estates management, preferably within a local authority or public sector environment.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of property law, valuation techniques, and estate management best practices.
  • IT Proficiency: Competent in the use of property management software and Microsoft Office applications.
