Are you a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer who is looking for a new challenge?

Are you looking for a role where you will have the opportunity to continue to develop your skills in a fantastic supportive team environment?

If you have the experience and passion for embracing new ways of working and improving client experience, and want to join a well performing, forward thinking organisation – then read on!

Our Purpose

Following the successful promotion of a colleague, we are looking for someone to work with our Commercial Estates Manager to provide professional estate management and valuation advice across the Council’s extensive and diverse commercial estate portfolio.

Your Role

This role is key to supporting our plans to maximise the efficiency of our commercial estate, which is an important part of our financial strategy.

You will provide professional estate management, consultancy and valuation advice to the Council across all aspects of the estate, undertaking investment and development appraisals, and giving your professional advice in relation to land and property acquisitions, redevelopment of existing land and property assets, disposals, compulsory purchase and other projects where the council has an interest.

You will lead on handling marketing and new lettings, assignments, sub-lettings, lease renewals, rent reviews, dilapidation claims, re-gearing of leases, responding to repairs/maintenance issues and other Landlord & Tenant matters.

You will lead on a programme of rent and lease renewals, and support the production of valuations for statutory purposes including the Council’s Asset Register for the annual accounts.

Along with the Commercial Estates Manager and Head of Estates, you will support the technical and professional development of less experienced and unqualified staff in all property matters.

About You

You are a Chartered Surveyor – MRICS of FRICS - and you are registered under the RICS VRS Scheme – Registered Valuer, with post qualification experience ideally of local authority property matters.

You are customer and community focussed, with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Ideally, you will have experience of working within a political environment, although this is not essential.

Just as importantly, you will be committed to working with others and developing yourself to deliver outcomes that support our ambition to make North East Lincolnshire a great place to live, work and visit.

Do you want to join a small, focussed, supportive team where you can really make a difference? We want to hear from you.

Your Application

All applicants are advised to carefully read the information provided in the Role Profile and Person Specification.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact Chris Fairbrother, Head of Estates (chris.fairbrother@nelincs.gov.uk)

Key Dates

Interview date: 16th September

Start date: In line with our ‘Day One: NEL Induction Process’, we would like to aim to have the successful candidate in post by November 2024

(However, this may be subject to change and will of course be dependent on your notice period and relevant pre-employment clearances being completed)

Working Arrangements

This role is a blended working role (the duties of the role may require a blend of home & office working in line with needs of the service)

There are many perks to enjoy when you are part of TeamNEL...

As part of your RewardNEL package, you will have up to 28 days leave entitlement* (including bank holidays) and enrolment into a local government pension.

You will also have access to our exclusive RewardNEL platform.

This includes a variety of salary sacrifice schemes including Cycle2Work, Holiday Extra and Tusker (Car Lease), discounts at local coffee shops and bars, direct access to our inhouse wellbeing support, free and discounted local car parking as well as instant access to new savings at major retailers, entertainment and hotels.

NELC staff can also benefit from flexible working and excellent training and development opportunities and a Fostering friendly scheme.

*Leave subject to paygrade and length of service
