We're looking for new civil engineers to fill our career opportunities at Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship level here at Richard Jackson Limited.

The opportunities will provide training and experience for civil and structural engineering, working on projects from one house to schemes up to several thousand dwellings, infrastructure for commercial development, healthcare and many other sectors.
What will the apprentice be doing?
- Assisting engineers in the preparation of calculations and specifications.
- Assisting technicians in the preparation of engineering drawings.
- Use of CAD and other computerised design systems.
- Provide support to supervising engineers during site investigations, including undertaking routine monitoring visits and in-situ testing.
- Data processing using Microsoft excel and design software packages (training will be provided).
- Assist in the management and storage of samples, materials and consumables.
- Appreciation of our business - understand briefs, budgets and monitor delivery.
- Maintain Client Care, including internal and external clients.
- Attend university/college to successfully achieve an engineering degree.
- Learn and develop technical knowledge and skills to assist with the successful completion and sign off of the apprenticeship scheme.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will achieve a Civil Engineering Degree.
- Study at University of Suffolk or another suitable university.
- Will likely attend university one day per week as well as receive on-the-job training.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Civil engineers tend to specialise in two areas – design and production. Design civil engineers work mainly in offices, looking at the need for projects and how a particular project can be achieved. Production civil engineers work and plan on-site, check the quality of work, and oversee schedules and budgets.
There are multiple levels of progression with the engineering field, after your completed degree apprenticeship you may have the opportunity to progress to a Graduate Civil Engineer position.

Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent English Language (Grade 4) essential
- GCSE or equivalent Mathematics (Grade 4) essential
Things to consider
A full UK driving licence is preferable, and access to a vehicle is desirable. Experience in using AutoCAD or similar software is advantageous but not essential. In addition, a willingness to undertake physical work outside in all weathers and to travel with occasional overnight stays is important.
