This is where you come in…

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Property Surveyor to join our team at our head office in Warrington, Cheshire. You’ll join the Access & Acquisitions team to help deal with all aspects of acquiring land, negotiating access to third party land to facilitate our Capital Programme and to ensure we’re able to inspect, maintain, repair and improve our network of water mains and sewers.

 

What will you focus on?

You’ll provide a comprehensive professional surveying service to Programme Services, Engineering, Water & Wastewater Services and Legal Services within United Utilities to include advice on access to private land, valuation, compensation, acquisitions and other property related issues. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely possession of all land and sites required for the capital programme and assisting with production of reports, plans and budgets, identifying savings, opportunities to mitigate costs by way of reducing land take, site selection, alternative pipeline routes and better timing/phasing of works

 

What do you need?

You’ll be a qualified Chartered Surveyor (Rural, Commercial or Valuation pathway) preferably with relevant experience in dealing with access to land and compensation work for a Utility Company and have a property related degree.

You’ll need excellent communication skills, both oral and written for liaison with a range of individuals and organisations both within and outside the Company

Working knowledge of the relevant sections of The Water Industry Act 1991 relating to access to private land.

An understanding of the Statutory Compensation Code and an awareness of the Company's Code of Practice for Pipelaying.

Commercial skills and business understanding together with experience in controlling costs associated with capital schemes.

Excellent negotiating skills and a sound commercial approach

Ability to adapt to constant change, be flexible and have the ability to initiate change where required.

A full driving licence is essential.

This is a challenging role which demands the initiative to manage a large and varied workload.
