Job Title: Interim Project Surveyor

Location: Staffordshire

Contract Type: Interim

Salary: £375-460 per day Inside IR35

 

Our client, a local authority in Staffordshire, is seeking an Interim Project Surveyor to manage maintenance and construction works for their Corporate Property Portfolio. This role will involve overseeing planned and responsive maintenance, refurbishments, adaptations, and extensions, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of the Corporate Asset Management Plan.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple maintenance and construction projects across the Corporate Property Portfolio, including planned maintenance, refurbishments, adaptations, and extensions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of work, rates, estimates, feasibility studies, and contract documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Corporate Asset Management Plan, ensuring maintenance regimes are effectively integrated into property portfolios.
  • Review and approve submitted valuations, accounts, financial statements, and invoices throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage contract variations, resolve contractual claims, and oversee the preparation of financial reports and final accounts.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections, ensuring the quality of work and compliance with project specifications.
  • Contribute to the preparation and procurement of the Public Buildings Capital Programme and attend working parties and officer meetings as required.  

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Property Management, or a related field.
  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS) is desirable.
  • Proven experience in managing maintenance and construction projects, ideally within the public sector or local government.
  • Strong background in preparing and managing contract documentation, valuations, and project financials.
  • Experience in managing large property portfolios, including public buildings and assets.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
