Apprentice Building Surveyor split between our London and Faversham offices

Overview

Consult Construct is an independent firm Regulated by RICS and focused on delivering high quality construction and surveying consultancy services, for a broad portfolio of clients.    We provide comprehensive surveying, project management and design advice.  Our team has a broad range of professional property experience and a formidable reputation for a highly quality responsive hands-on service.

We work across the private and public sectors, including refurbishments, new builds, and extension projects.    You will gain experience on a range of varied and interesting projects, including multi-million-pound façade remedial schemes, refurbishment and extensions to schools, repairs to period properties and refurbishment of residential premises throughout London and the Home Counties.

We have exciting plans for further growth, and we are currently looking for an Apprentice Building Surveyor to join the Team in our small London office working alongside 2 Directors and an administration assistant.  This position is open to individuals with the requisite qualifications to study for a RICS Accredited Degree in Building Surveying.   Ideally you will have some previous experience working in a Surveying or construction environment and be driven to become a Chartered Building Surveyor, MRICS.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to progress their career within a positive culture, where learning and career development is actively supported and promoted.  This position will provide an excellent opportunity to learn whilst being supported by an enthusiastic team.

You will be based in our London office for 2 days a week, spend 2 days at a Faversham office and the remaining day will be allocated to University during term time. During University holidays will will be expected to work 5 days a week. You will receive regular mentoring by one of our Senior Team leaders and have access to a regular CPD programme and in-house fortnightly APC training.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The candidate will support their team in the delivery of a broad range of both project and professional work and will be expected to contribute and work towards being able to produce:

- Feasibility Studies
- Condition and / or maintenance reports
- Assist in Party Wall or other neighbourly matters
- Assessment of condition of existing buildings, identify and analyse defects.
- Preparation / review of Schedules of Dilapidations.
- Preparation of Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
- Preparation of specifications / schedule of works.
- Preparation of outline and working drawings.
- Submissions of Statutory Applications to local authorities etc.
- Preparation of contract documents, Tendering and evaluation.
- Contract administration.
- Other duties which may reasonably be expected of a Apprentice Building Surveyor.


Essential Requirements

  • Must have the necessary qualifications to enroll on a RICS Accredited Degree in Building Surveying.
  • Be self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and a confidence to communicate effectively at all levels written and verbally   
  • Strong team working ethos.
  • Be ambitious and motivated
  • Able to manage time effectively.
  • Possess excellent computing skills, work in an organised and methodical manner, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle due to location of the office and for site visits.
  • Have a clear understanding of their route to becoming MRICS
