Job description

The City of York Council are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to support the management of change to council buildings.

 

The role:

  • Working in an historic City with a varied portfolio of buildings
  • To lead & work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Undertake Building Surveys, Dilapidation and Condition Surveys.
  • Develop and manage projects from inception to building completion
  • Liaising with building control and planning
  • Submission of planning and building regulation applications
  • Preparation of tender documents, Contract Administration and Health and Safety information

 

Essential Skill, Qualifications and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence.
  • Experience in a similar or related role within the construction industry
  • Capable of running/managing their own projects, leading a team and working within a team on larger projects

 

With:

  • Clear decision making in a timely manner based on facts and sound rationale
  • High level of interpersonal and people management skills and attributes
  • Highly literate and experienced with IT, in particular MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management and teams
  • Self-motivated with excellent planning and organisational ability

 

Must have experience in:

  • A similar role
  • Interacting with clients and stakeholders at a senior level
  • Detailed understanding of building regulations, legislation and standards
  • Knowledge of H&S, listed buildings and party wall legislation within an estates built environment

 

Qualifications:

  • An accredited building surveying qualification

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
